2030: what changes for new buildings

What does 2030 mean for your home? A guide to new-building requirements and energy certificates.

Read guide

The European directive sets zero-emission standards for new buildings from 1 January 2030, and new buildings owned by public bodies from 2028. Insulation, design and building systems work together. This date is not a universal window certificate and does not itself require every existing window to be replaced. Each project needs its applicable rules and specifications checked.

The energy performance certificate governed by RD 390/2021 concerns the building or part of it, such as a home.

76 mm profiles: look beyond the number

Depth is just one specification. Glass, seals and installation also matter.

Read guide

Compare whole-window Uw values at the same dimensions and glazing. Consider opening type, noise, orientation and finish. A deeper profile alone does not guarantee a better result: the system should suit your home.

Windows and sustainability in everyday life

Less heat loss in winter, solar control in summer and care for the installed system.

Read guide

Insulation can reduce heating demand, while exterior shading can limit overheating. The effect depends on the building and how it is used. Material documentation and maintenance provide more useful information than a generic promise of a green product.

We compare complete configurations. Recycled content, environmental declarations and certificates are documented for each system when available.

Choosing your windows

Replace the glazing or the whole window?

Replace the glazing or the whole window?

Check the frame, sashes, seals and installation first. Glazing replacement may suit a sound assembly that can support its thickness and weight. A distorted frame or installation problems require an assessment of the whole window.

Why does condensation appear?

Why does condensation appear?

Condensation forms when humid air meets a sufficiently cold surface. Check humidity, ventilation and glass temperature. Fog between panes calls for a check of the glazing seal.

What suits a sunny façade?

What suits a sunny façade?

Compare solar factor, light transmission and external shading. An awning or shutter lets you control incoming sunlight. The choice depends on orientation, overheating hours and the daylight you want.
